HTC has promoted Jason Mackenzie to the newly-created position of president for global sales and marketing. In his new role, Mackenzie will report to CEO Peter Chou and will be responsible for ensuring that HTC's sales strategies and go-to-market execution are aligned as HTC seeks to expand its global footprint. Mackenzie joined HTC in 2005 and has led HTC North America and Latin America since 2007.
"Under Jason's leadership, HTC has become one of the leading smartphone brands in the Americas. His attention to detail, focus on customer service and commitment to driving HTC's innovations across the region have been a testament to his sales and marketing management capabilities," said Chou.
"In his new role, Jason is responsible for driving tighter integration and scale across our product portfolio globally."
HTC has been making strident inroads into the global smartphone market with its Android-powered handsets. In May, the company announced $1.4 billion in sales, more than doubling its performance for the same period last year.
